An Inevitability

Jonathan came to the realization on a sunday morning. He was awaken around three in the morning by an insistent bowel movement of which he could not ignore. His primordial brain screamed at him to open the valves and he of course obliged. Jonathan was never one to shit the bed. While sitting on cold porcelain Jonathan began to think and consider. He had recently met a young woman. She was lovely with dark hair and green eyes and a fierceness which aroused him. Her prominent nose, which first appeared comical, became a defining and beautifying feature of her facial aesthetics. Her name was Nancy. Her name was the ugliest aspect of her. Nancy preferred to be called Cassandra.
Cassandra was a complicated woman. She was pulled towards many angles and loved the architectural possibility of the right angle, which she used as the philosophical basis for space, and unsurprisingly, life. She was easily swayed and made rash decisions. Some she regretted. Some she didn't. Some she didn't remember. Jonathan loved her for it.
Jonathan and Cassandra first came in contact through her rash ninety degree decisions when on a 2nd unplanned encountered decided to have a highly satisfying sexual encounter in which, on the 2nd round of consensual intercourse, Nancy successfully orgasmed while Jonathan did not. Unsurprisingly Jonathan was proud of himself and told all his friends. Unsurprisingly Cassandra was pleased and didn't tell her friends. She would later spill the beans during a round of drinks during ladies night. Her friends would hug her while calling her whore within their mind. Cassandra wasn't a whore.
Jonathan grew to love Nancy very quickly, and in a matter of weeks was sexually deprived and a tad confused by Nancy's insistence that she needed to prove to herself and her female peers that she was not a whore/slut/harlot/skank. Jonathan accepted what he did not know and enjoyed the intimacy he was allowed. He remained confused for a long period of time.
Jonathan came to a realization, which occurred a month after he met Nancy. She was going to break his heart. It was undeniably. His kindness, his love and above all else his loyalty would be his downfall. Cassandra needed Jonathan, and for a time would grow to love him deeply for he was a kind, loving and loyal man. She would learn that he was the one. ninety degree angle. It hadn't happened yet. It was going to happen. Jonathan knew this. At first he was upset. He didn't want to have his heart broken. He was going to love her. He was perfect for her. First he was angry. He became sad, and cried a little. Suddenly Jonathan laughed and smiled. He didn't know when she would break his heart. Perhaps tomorrow. Perhaps in a few weeks or years. Jonathan smiled when he though of Nancy.
Jonathan climbed into bed with Nancy and watched her sleep. At that moment he was happy. She was happy. Tomorrow was not within his control. He didn't mind the heart break any more, which would occur 2 years from that day. He was sad that day, but smiled when he though of Cassandra despite the pain. Though Jonathan never fell in love again he met a lovely young woman a handful of years later, married, and has two kids. Nancy died rock climbing 10 years after she left Jonathan. He never learned of the event. She smiled when she thought of him.
