Small Actions (Thoughts)

Often the minute and meaningless actions speak the most about a person. Have you ever wished for someone? Perhaps witnessed a shooting star and decided to say "I wish so-and-so will find happiness" or "I hope so-and-so will meet that perfect someone." No reason why you did it, you just felt compelled to think of him or her in a positive light. It means more when you need that wish for yourself, when all you need is a moment of calm belief in the unbelievable, that a shooting star or a time on a clock can somehow bring you what you need most. It won't of course, but for that split second when we make that wish for someone else we believe we have given something up for them, something we ourselves need. There is something beautiful in a moment such as that despite its utter concrete meaninglessness. Those moments, if you have ever experienced them, are some of the deepest acts of kindness you will ever convey. They are more powerful in the sense that you will experience them alone within yourself. They are moments which are never shared nor easily explained to other people. Those moments are secrets hidden deep within and for that they are even more powerful and wonderful. I suppose what I am trying to say is that sometimes it is good to wish for others when you need a wish yourself. On that night it will give you a greater understanding of others and yourself and perhaps allow you to fall in love with yourself, if for a small moment during that act of meaningless selflessness. Perhaps, in time, it will grow to have a meaning more powerful than you could ever realize.
